Unforgettable Oaxaca Coast: Mazunte, Zipolite & Sunset Bliss

My son and I went on a tour with Mario who customized the trip to our liking. He picked us up from hotel and drove us to several scenic beaches. He helped us with bags and translations throughout. We loved the ventanilla where we saw crocs, deer and monkey. When my son opted out of snorkeling he patiently watched over him as I went out and saw schools of fish. He showed us where to change and picked a great restaurant on the beach and just in the nick of time we made it for sunset to punta cometa in mazune. He even took me to ATMs afterwards when I expressed interest in more cash before dropping us back at hotel. It was a great day! Without promoting Mario also took photos and videos of us which he shared at end of trip. My only complaint is that I think the snorkeling equipment and maybe feed for animals should have been included or covered by eco tours as it was pricier than what I paid in Oaxaca city.

We reached almost night because way was hard after pouring, hotel staff was very kind but! They didn’t have restaurant service, we tried to walk in mazunte to looking for food but almost al was closed at 22:30… so only a couple places for tacos… anything else… so I suggest have dinner earlier or no food

I found Robert’s Ecotours from the great reviews online. Since I was tired of walking in the heat, I decided to rent a scooter from Robert’s Ecotours for a really good price of 400 pesos per day, which is the best deal in the area. After a great experience with the scooter, I inquired about some tours, and settled on the Mazunte tour as Roberto is very easy to deal with. Even though the tour didn’t meet the required minimum guest threshold, Roberto still moved forward with the tour. I highly recommend Robert’s Ecotours for scooters and tours, as I had a fantastic experience dealing with Roberto and his staff!

Had an incredible day hosted by Polo the guide, who went above and beyond to make sure I spent time as I wanted to, and enjoyed the big day out. The beaches were so beautiful- finished with the amazing sunset in Mazunte. Would recommend 🌞

I had a great day exploring the Oaxacan coastline with Polo. It was only the two of us, but he kept the day going with great conversation, stories, and flexibility. He is quite charming and made the day extra special for me. Highly recommend this way of visiting the beaches!

All nice beaches! We just got back from visiting Puerto Ángel and visited each of these places. The beaches are beautiful and since it’s off season there was hardly any people. We felt like we had the beaches to ourselves!! The people are very friendly as well. We enjoyed visiting

Warm, sunny and beautiful area to spend a month in the winter. Different areas and beaches offer their own unique things. Ventanilla is quiet, long beach, breathtaking sunset, and crocodile tours in the greeness of the lagoon. Mazunte is a daytime beach with so much happenings, events, gatherings that it’s hard to choose sometimes. Yoga and concious events easy to access daily. Mermejita beach wakes up at sunset by the people sitting on the beach with guitars and other instruments, gathering, singing, meeting each other. Zipolite is a lively nighttime place but at daytime the nudity friendly beaches are a nice place to hang out.

I booked this tour literally a few hours prior to scheduled departure and ended up having a guide with an air-conditioned van all to myself. My tour-guide Polo was knowledgable and let me customize the itinerary to my liking (I am glad he was available on a 5-minute notice) 😃It was a nice combination of learning about local eco-system, beach-time, and a yummy culinary experience. I was also able to finally find a variety of mezcal that I could drink. This tour is a must if you like to see and learn new things.

Mazunte is one of the best beaches in Oaxaca, it is a very quiet place to spend a few days, it also has a national turtle center, you can take tours to watch dolphins and whales.
